Week 11: Reading Diary B

Disguise:
  • Yudhisthir- King of Hastinapura. After years of hiding in the forest. Yudhisthir decides to spend a year in the kingdom of Matsya. They would disguise themselves as servants in the palace of King Virat.
  • Remember if they are caught they will have to endure another 12 years in exile.
  • I think that it's interesting that they would stoop down to the level of being servants just so they wouldn’t have to live in the forest.
  •  Bheem: worked in the kitchen and prepare delicacies for the palace.
  • Yudhisthir: excelled in philosophical conversations and gambled with the Virat.
  • Nakul and Sahadev worked in the barn.
  • Arjun: was Princess Uttara's dance tutor.
  • Draupadi: got hired as a maid.
  • Draupadi had to fight off Keechak. She looked to her husbands to protect her, but they wanted to consume their identity than to help her.
  • In the middle of the night Keechak was killed and Duryodhan raged war against Virats kingdom.
  • Their identities were found, however, they weren't treated as outcast but as royalty.

Preparation:
  • Draupadi still wants war against Duryodhan for her humility.
  • (What would vengeance solve for Draupadi? How would she feel once everything is done. Would she feel like he got what he deserved, or will it make her feel worse as a woman.)

Field:
  • The day of vindication (preparations for the battle)
  • Draupadi sees Shikhandi again. (pg. 256)
